#77 Mark Portugal

Name: Mark "Fat Face" Portugal

Prison Term: 1985-1988

The Memories:

Well, being that he was drafted before I was born and finished playing with the Twins before I learned how to read, my memories are foggy. Looking at his stats, he never won more than 6 games for the Twins. Lucky enough for him, he was on the 1987 World Series roster.

  1. FYI he was NOT on the 1987 World Series Roster and he does NOT have a "fat face", he has a handsome face, a very handsome face. He had a very respectable career and took the game seriously. YOU should research him more. He is a very interesting man, A great father and wonderful human.

  3. I doubt YOU ^ know Mark. If you have any respect for Mark you would have written something more appropriate for the conversation rather than offer useless information. Go back to school. Learn when it is appropriate to use capital letters and punctuation. A lesson in spelling would also be helpful. The person who wrote this blog dose not know Mark, he says he wasn't born when Mark was drafted. Mark was signed, not drafted, by the way, when he was just 18 years old and has a very touching story about how he made it in MLB, with The Twins. I don't feel it is necessary to call him "fat face" as the baseball card the blogger chose to display is not Mark's most attractive card. He is a handsome man and that reference just made me mad because people need to be less superficial with each other's looks. He had a solid career. I admire him greatly and feel IF you indeed do know him, you should show respect rather than private useless information.

  4. Excuse me. I think you need to look at what you wrote before you comment on spelling and puncuation. It is this site that is leaving out letters and words. Look at all the words and letters left out on your comment. It makes you look like a 3rd grader. I had a very nice affair with Mark, but my career kept us from going further. Btw I have a Masters, did you even graduate HS? Ps Do you even know him, or are you just a slutty stalker? I know his birth marks and other SKIN affects :) And I do agree with you that he is VERY HANDSOME and far from a fat face. Just a cute face :)

  5. Ryan, can YOU please remove this ^ post and the one about Mark Portugal's BOD? Nobody cares about his "affairs". I'm sure this is not what the intent of your blog was for. Thank You.

  6. Before Ryan deletes these funny comments I have to add my two cents. IF you have a "Masters" degree you should know better. It does not matter what degree you throw around when it comes to saying stupid things. IF you have a masters, you should know better than to admit to an "affair" when "relationship" sounds much classier. Also, to brag about what you insinuate you have done with this man is what makes YOU look like a slut who he picked up in a bar. I see you as nothing more than a groupie. Groupies feel they need to brag about what athletes they have had "affairs" with because it makes them feel good about themselves. As you Brag about his birth marks and "other skin affects" and how great his body is "without clothes on" You do nothing more but make yourself look like a trashy groupie or a "slutty stalker" as you called me. News flash-NOBODY CARES! YOU have no idea who I am. I may be a relative. I may be a close friend. I may be his love. I may just be a fan...anyone can be who they want on the internet. How dare YOU put this crap up on the internet. IF you have a Masters Degree you should be smarter than this! How dare you embarrass this man! Enough said, I think you get the picture!

  7. I'm sure your NOT his LOVER, because my friend has been seeing Mark. An he would never cheat on her. So whoever you people are writing these things, all of you need to get your stories straight.

    1. IF you read the response correctly you would have seen this person is saying anyone can be anyone behind a computer keyboard. They said they "may" and not they "are". Making a point.

  8. Boo whooo, You really think anyone was intimidated by your attempts to scare us from writing the truth. Go CRY to someone who cares. If you cant handle being with a man thats a player (pun), then go find someone else. Once a cheat, ALWAYS a cheat.

  9. People get a life. This was not what this blog was intended for! Nobody cares about Mark Portugal's "affairs", girlfriends or if he cheats or not! He was a damn good pitcher who was tormented by too many injuries. He could have been "great"!

    2. He may indeed be a great man, but a great pitcher? He was good, maybe even better than average but nowhere near the likes of Randy Johnson, Greg Maddux, Curt Schilling, Pedro Martinez, Tom Glavine, John Smoltz or Roger Clemens. All who played during the same years as Portugal. He didn't win a Cy or any other awards for pitching, he did win a silver slugger for being the best hitting pitcher, once. Too many injuries and trips to the DL. So yes, he could have been great. He had a great change up. He was fun to watch and I always thought he would find a place in coaching after his career was over. Other than his performance in baseball, I could care less about his personal life. So if you insist on calling him a "great" pitcher you need to learn the game of basbeall. Seriously.

  10. Im not here to say if Mark was a great pitcher or not. But he is a GREAT man&a GREAT lover. I only wish I knew him in his younger years as a pitcher. If he pitched as well as he thrusts, then he must have been great. Mark, when I come back into the states, you'll be the 1st one I call.

    1. Nobody cares......this is for his career in Baseball, not his love life!

  11. Mark was one of my heroes as a kid. He was gonna be one of the Twins up and coming stars so I remember keeping my eye on him. I was devastated when he got traded and loving the game of baseball, I continued to follow Mark and many other Twins who left my beloved team. He was a good pitcher, not great, but good. He had a long career and too many trips to the dl. But what I see here, many of the posts written are not about baseball or his career but childish remarks about his love life and relationships. I think it's rather immature to post such personal information, especially if you have a Masters Degree or really are one of his "ladies". If the posts are just people playing around-grow up and stop using the internet as your playground! If I were Mark Portugal, I'd be very upset that my present and former girlfriends were posting such personal information and "when you get back to the states" I wouldn't want that call. Respect yourself and keep your personal business with a former athlete just that, personal. Mark, Guy to guy, if you read this, I think it's time to find classier women. I enjoyed your career and I hope you are doing well in retirement.
